Art in Progress

Currently, I am exploring the themes of culture, art, status, environment, and womanhood through some of my pieces. These are works in progress, where I am refining my vision using various ideas and textures for inspiration.

Relief Art

Relief art or sculptures are pieces where the figure projects out of the background. It is also an art form commonly found on temple walls, palace corridors, or cathedral doors. In India, it is also found in temples or a commissioned form of art for those in the upper class. In my own artwork, I wanted to elevate those who were not considered worthy. In my pieces, Dalit, or untouchables, and women are represented in these relief sculptures. I am still learning how to get more details in my pieces, and to plan ahead before the clay dries.

Chipko Sculpture

Not everything has a picture. This could be an idea you're still circling, a zine that's half laid out, or an object you haven't started building.

Waiting on: the right paper, a second pair of hands, or just the nerve.
